About The Curator

Born and raised in East Cleveland, Ohio. I’ve lived in Oakland since 2001.

1999 the first local artist from East Cleveland, Ohio to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio- opening for Public Enemy. Born and raised in East Cleveland, Ohio. I’ve lived in Oakland since 2001. 17 Studio albums including 5 as PE 2.0, 1 with Enemy Radio, and 1 on a major label (Soulhop The Breakthru on EMI 2006). Member of Public Enemy Family since 2006. Label owner Microphone Mechanics/Ingrooves since 2010. Business owner since 1990.

As a curator, I recognize that I am not originally from the Bay Area, but my whole career and life has been centered in Oakland, California. This process is participatory, meaning the future curators and leaders of the Bay Area Hip Hop Archives will be led by members of the Bay Area Hip Hop community. DEFINITION OF THE BAY AREA HIP HOP ARCHIVES

WE ARE A CONTENT REPOSITORY FOR BAY AREA HIP HOP ARTISTS, ACTIVISTS, AND EDUCATORS WHO HAVE A 20 YEAR OR MORE SIGNIFICANT HISTORY IN THE COMMUNITY AND WORLD VIA HIP HOP CULTURE.

  • MY ROLE AS CURATOR MEANS:

    • I preserve and protect your artifacts.

    • I work with you to create your hip hop timeline via zoom calls, delivery of items and support the promotion of your archive.

    • I handle scheduling and viewing of your archive to the general public and special programming.

    • I support with future induction selections.

    • I manage the website and data of the archives.

  • YOUR ROLE AS INDUCTEE MEANS:

    • You agree to allow bahha to preserve and protect your items.

    • You will work with our bahha process for building your hip hop timeline, zoom calls, delivery and promotion of your archive.

    • You will take the time to work on your legacy and narrative, gather items, and share with the curator how you want your archive to be presented.

    • You will be open to curator conversations and special events about your legacy and archive. (compensated requests only)

    • You agree to be a part of the bay area hip hop archives community.
